Mag-Shield® improve oil sample results in a CAT 797F haul truck
The Solution
Ferrous contamination is estimated to represent
between 35% and 40% of the
contamination typically filtered using traditional
media filtration under normal operation, and up to 90% upon a component failure.
Ferrous contamination is problematic for hydraulics and pressurised fluid systems even at the minute level. Heavy-duty equipment tends to be more exposed to these hard particles due to high pressures and low operating tolerances. Ferrous material can accelerate wear in components including transmissions, valves and final drives, and send OEM filters into bypass. Ultimately, this contamination can lead to catastrophic failures if it remains in the system.
MagShield® magnetic filtration has already saved many businesses from the costs of:
- Premature component replacement
- Downtime as equipment failures are resolved
- Secondary hydraulic failure as a result of uncontained primary failure
- Projects falling behind schedule
- Further contamination during repairs or maintenance
- Follow-on impacts on steering or braking components, and
- Potential damage to business reputation
Filtering out the various types of hydraulic contamination helps to guarantee smooth, reliable operation and optimises the life cycle of system components. Proactive asset protection pays off – in fact, many clients have seen a return on investment within just one year.
