Mag-Probe® is a self-sealing magnetic diagnostic tool that lets you test fluid systems for ferrous contaminants quickly, simply and safely. Our patented technology detects and displays iron-containing contaminants without risking spills, clean-up or further contamination of the fluid system.

How Mag-Probe® works
Mag-Probe®’s are easy to install and can be used in multiple applications such as front and rear wheel groups, wheel motor filler caps and drain points in reservoirs. There are two key parts to the Mag-Probe:
- The ‘body’ is the self-sealing component and threads into the application
- The ‘probe’ contains the magnet and threads into the body of the Mag-Probe®
The probe component and oil sampling adaptor both thread into the body and are easily interchangeable. With its embedded rare earth magnet, the Mag-Probe® infiltrates the fluid flow and attracts ferrous fines, flakes or particles in the system. When the magnetic probe component is removed, a spring-activated ball then seals the probe internally. This self-sealing mechanism prevents leaks or spills and allows a sample of oil to be cleanly extracted for assessment.
You can then implement a ferrous metal reduction strategy as and if needed, which may include the installation of magnetic filtration products.
